Right Hand Left - Lipstick

Having shared the stage over the last two years with the likes of The Futureheads and (Hercules Moments favourites) Frightened Rabbit, Aberdeen’s Right Hand Left have kept their fans in anticipation for this, their eagerly-awaited second single.

Lipstick sees Right Hand Left take on an evolved, richer sound. It’s evident that in the years between this and their first single (Johnny Ray, released back in 2007) that the band have come on in leaps and bounds, their lyrics delving deeper into the psyche of the band. It’s not just the A-side that’s worth a mention however: Sat on the Bench and Boulders in the Sky are equally as warm and powerful; the latter being a stripped-down acoustic affair.

With this trio of songs, Right Hand Left have created something special: rather than crossing the fine line into self-indulgence, their heartfelt personal music is entirely listenable and, most importantly, enjoyable.

Lipstick is out now on Fat Hippy Records.
