8track: Cara Mitchell

Picture the scene: you've just stepped out of the Hercules Moments DeLorean and you find yourself in the 90s. MC Hammer pants and Walkmen are all the rage. Deciding to ignore the fashion of the day, you pick up a Walkman and head home to 2012...

Over the past few months, we've been getting in touch with bands, celebrities and more to ask them to create eight-song-long mixtapes for YOU. So crack out your Walkman and enjoy...

Cara Mitchell has been gaining popularity over the last couple of years both locally in Aberdeen, and further afield. Originally popular on YouTube because of her unusual silky voice, she started performing live as often as possible, and released her EP Have You Ever Wondered in September last year.

Lykke Li - Little Bit
Lykke Li has such a pretty voice and this song’s really good to listen to whilst chilling with friends!

The Paper Kites - Bloom
This is a really beautiful song, I chose this because it’s a band I’ve recently discovered and think people should hear about them.

Soley - Smashed Birds
Soley’s voice is so different, and I love this song because I love her quirky song writing!

Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can't See Land
This song reminds me of good memories of summer two years ago, and it’s also a great song!

Daughter - Home
Daughter have very unusual music and she has a beautiful voice, such an awesome band.

Charlene Soraia - Bike
I chose Bike because the guitar rift at the beginning is so addictive! And Charlene Soraia is a chick who plays awesome jazzy electric guitar!

Radical Face - Wrapped in Piano Strings
This is another beautiful song, every time I listen to it, it gives me goosebumps.

The Maccabees - Young Lion
This song also reminds me of happy memories, and it’s also one of the first songs I did a cover of!

Check out her music on Reverbnation, follow her updates on Facebook and Twitter, or catch her live at one of her three shows (Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh) in March.
