8track: The Humour

Let us take you on a magical trip back to the 90s. MC Hammer pants were all the rage and Walkmen were the height of new technology. Keeping this in mind, over the past few months we've been getting in touch with bands around the country and asking them to create a metaphorical mixtape containing, you guessed it, eight tracks!

We asked James Taylor from The Humour, a 4 piece band based in Wakefield, Leeds, what his 8track compilation would be, and he brings us a mixture of genres which reflect the different influences on the band's catchy pop-rock-metal songs. These upbeat tunes have earned the band both a great reputation in their hometown and around the UK, and a string of successful gigs and festival appearances. Now let's see where their inspiration comes from!

Title: Eyes of a Panther
Artist: Steel Panther
Why: If you like your metal with a hint of cheese, check these guys out! They’re from L.A. They’re the new Spinal Tap, and featured on this song is the one and only Corey Taylor.

Title: I’m Always Here
Artist: Jimi Jamison
Why: It’s the Baywatch theme tune. Does it need another reason? Try listening to it without doing that slow motion run...

Title: Pour Some Sugar On Me
Artist: Def Leppard
Why: They're one of the greatest 80's bands ever! If you like your choruses big, they don’t come much bigger than this!

Title: Love Addict
Artist: Family Force 5
Why: These guys aren't that well known over here yet but they totally rule! A bit of American crunk music from these dirty Atlanta boys!

Title: Larger Than Life
Artist: Backstreet Boys
Why: If anyone ever tells you they don’t like BB, they're lying! The guys in the band and I never say no to a bit of boyband pop!

Title: One More Drink
Artist: The Humour
Why: Probably one of the best songs ever, by one of the greatest bands ever. They’re really hot too...

Title: Ur So Gay
Artist: Katy Perry
Why: Katy is my future wife. She has no idea about this yet but she will do some day. I like to listen to her all the time and I imagine her singing it to me in our massive L.A. mansion.

Title: The Shape Of Punk To Come
Artist: The Refused
Why: This is to try and claw back some credibility. But seriously, this song is just pure punk, an awesome song to get down to with your friends.
