Blinding Sunlight - Particles

Blinding Sunlight’s music is strangely hypnotic: guitars and synthesizers swirl around in an intriguing, yet restrained brand of psychedelica. Their slow-burning sounds build and develop, and repeated listening allows for the discovery of further treasures buried within the deeply layered and richly textured music.

Vyudh begins quietly, a lone synth line introduces the listener to the world of Blinding Sunlight before luxuriously layered vocals and drums are added to the mix. As this, the opening track, fades out the listener is met with booming drums, a sign that the decidedly indie-flavoured Cowboys & Indians has begun.

Upbeat electronic instrumentals Colder then leads the way to The Spanish. Beginning with a soft guitar riff, The Spanish builds in pace and volume as layers of guitar and electronic sounds are added, leading perfectly into Radiowaves. Featuring guest guitarist Kevin McShane, Radiowaves is undoubtedly one of the album’s high points: relaxed yet rousing prog-influenced solos dominate the piece, and lift it to another level.

What follows is Let’s Just Sit Around: a fantastically melodic guitar line and an industrial-sounding backing provide the accompaniment for the smooth vocals, before penultimate track Bones leads seamlessly into album closer Baikonur. Taking its name from a small city in Kazakhstan, Baikonur pulsates with electronic energy, providing an experimental-sounding ending to the album.

Throughout their eight-track-long debut album Particles, Blinding Sunlight will take you on a unique journey through laid-back indie-prog. You’ll experience pulsing synths, mellow guitars, slick vocals and mesmerizing melodies as you travel through Blinding Sunlight’s atmospheric sprawling soundscapes.

Particles is out now on brand-new German label, Against It Records.
