Rockness 2009

Rockness is Scotland's second biggest music festival, and arguably, the friendliest. There's a contradiction in terms if ever there was one! Primarily a dance-orientated festival, we set out ourselves to have an 'alternative Rockness experience': we sought out the rock in Rockness! Taking in big names such as The Flaming Lips, Super Furry Animals and The Prodigy, we also found time to sample smaller artists like Tommy Reilly, Frightened Rabbit and Blood Red Shoes. Along with intrepid photographer Dave, we sampled delicious venison burgers, had discussions with a "better class of tramp" and met some lovely people, some even from Keith! Click through the pages below to find out who we saw, and who Dave photographed...

Trivia
*
Founded by Rob Spicks, Rockness has been on the go for 4 years, the first event being held on Saturday 24th June 2006.
* Over the years, Rockness has attracted such big names as Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Manic Street Preachers, Mark Ronson, The Feeling, Razorlight, The View, DJ Yoda and many, many more!
* In 2007, Daft Punk proved so popular that organisers had to remove the sides of the 10,000 capacity Clash tent, so a reported 30,000 festival-goers could watch the set.
*This year, 2009, Rockness will be covered by the BBC, who will also be providing internet coverage.
