Known throughout Aberdeen as the city's biggest Shoegaze fan (perhaps even the world's), DJ Yogi used to be one of the most knowledgeable members of staff at One Up Records. If you're into Shoegaze you can often find him DJing around the city. Let's see what some of his favourite tracks are!
My Bloody Valentine - Cigarette In Your Bed
I first heard this in 1988 when I was 14 and instantly fell in love with Belinda Butchers voice.
Ride - Like a Daydream
From their second EP Play, this is the track that gave the name to my latest Djing nights, enough said!
Slowdive - Souvlaki Space Station
Taken from their second album Souvlaki in 1993, this has a nice dub feel about it, well dreamy.
Chapterhouse - Breather
From the debut album Whirlpool, this gem is straight in at 100 mph, pure dream pop/shoegaze.
Engineers - One in Seven
From their self titled debut album from back in 2005, it's the last track and they used to start gigs with this one, it has a great build up.
Malory - Ajar Door (live)
From the German shoegazer's album Pearl Diver, this live studio effort floors me every time with its reverb guitar work.
Dorias Baracca - Birthday
Second track on this teenage Danish shoegazer's Handsome Melting Point EP on the amazing Club AC30 label, 11 minute shoegazing epic awash with bendy guitars. Sadly the singer passed away a couple of years ago, RIP Buster!
Ringo Deathstarr - Kaleidoscope
It's Marychain and My Bloody Valentine all over again, amazing 3 piece from Austin, Texas.
