Forest Fires - Avalanche

I think it is fair to say that all of us here at Hercules Moments are big fans of local music, so hearing word of new releases from some of our favourite home grown bands is always good news. The release of a new single from former local boys Forest Fires is no exception.

So without further ado I introduce you to Avalanche, the new single from Forest Fires, and notably their first to break free from the world of Bandcamp and Soundcloud into the big leagues of iTunes and Spotify.

Thankfully Avalanche is a track more than up to the task of showing off Forest Fires to music fans the world over, taking all the energy and feeling of the live Forest Fires experience and condensing it down into 2:46 of relentless high energy rock full of the sort of hooks to lodge it firmly in your head for the foreseeable future. It’s a step up in volume compared to some of the previous tracks they have made available, yet still keeping some of the interplay between the two guitars that drew us in before. I may even go as far as to say that Avalanche manages to pull off one of the hardest parts of recording, in that it manages to convey the feel of the band in their element live via a ‘sterile’ recording studio.

Avalanche by Forest Fires is out now, available on iTunes.
