Found Live - Tunnels, 06/11/10

For a cold Saturday night in Aberdeen, what can be better than a nice warm venue to head to for an evening of musical entertainment? Such was the thought process that led to the Tunnels for an evening with Found and their friends Indian Red Lopez…

First on were Aberdeen locals Indian Red Lopez, mixing up their own indie rock blend of soaring guitars and synths into a fantastic live show that is supported by projected visuals unique to a local Aberdeen band that has been steadily getting better every time I have seen them over the past few years, and going on the standards of this show they are not slowing down at all. Going on the fairly busy venue and appreciative noises coming from the crowd, there are others that would agree with me…

Compared to the five-piece IRL previously occupying the stage, the three-piece Found look positively stripped down, eschewing the traditional drum kit for sequencing and synths adding rhythm to the guitar and bass/keys onstage. In sound, though, Found have no problems whatsoever with the bare stage setup, creating a sound that encompasses everything from almost folky songs to pure electronic noise with rhythm pounding away and the guitar lost to pitchshifting and distortion - reminiscent of someone like Radiohead taken at various points along their careers, blended together into one with a hefty dose of individuality and uniqueness.

Two fantastic bands and a cosy warm venue, what else can you ask for on a chilly winters night?
