Performace - Unconsoled

They have overcome drugs, depression and disease. They have dabbled with major labels. They have lost a band member. They are Performance: a pop-rock outfit with a sunny, upbeat, and commercial, sound.

Inspired by the Kazou Ishiguro novel of the same name,Unconsoled is taken from sophomore album Red Brick House, the follow up to 2007’s successful self-release (we are) Performance. What might have broken lesser bands has brought Performance together as a stronger, tighter and more experienced group.

Opening with a bubbly synth line, the song hits hard from the get go. Fans of Maxïmo Park will undoubtedly enjoy the groove of Performance’s latest single, as the fuzzy synthesisers playfully bounce back and forth between the slick guitar line and strong rhythm section. Altogether, it’s a well-thought-out and intelligent arrangement from the English pop merchants, who are surely set for big things in the months to come.

Unconsoled is out on the 9th of August via Too Much Information Records.
