It seems quite ironic that Frank Turner should release this track just after he had to cancel some events due to back problems. Losing Days opens with the lyrics
“Oh
my broken battered body,
In
the days when I was younger,
Used
to fix itself quick sharp,
After
every slip and stumble.
But
these days I'm collecting scars that don't seem to fade,
Cuts
and bruises that won't go away.”
But just like his songs, powerful and energetic, Frank
Turner will not be letting the fans down for his highly anticipated Reading and
Leeds appearance. He says on his website: “the shows will go ahead, we are working on a plan, and if
I have to do them in a goddamn wheelchair I will.”
Losing Days
is third single to be taken from the highly acclaimed fifth studio album - produced with Muse collaborator Rick Costey - Tape Deck Heart, which
reached number one on the iTunes chart, number two on the Official Chart and
also entered the Top Ten on the US iTunes Chart in its week of release.
Losing Days is
another track completely void of any sugar coated lyrics, presented in upbeat
rhythms and catchy riffs, which can only be truly enjoyed live. It is a song
that holds a very reflective note and stresses the importance of living life to
the full, but in a non-cheesy way that only Frank can pull off.
The
video for Losing Days plays on the
lyrics' references to body art and is filmed in a Birmingham tattoo parlour. It sees Frank
receiving a tattoo of the track's artwork (from Heather Law, who designed all the
artwork for Tape Deck Heart), whilst being filmed,
and watched by a fan audience. Very cool. Very rock n’roll.
Losing Days by Frank Turner is out on September 1st 2013 via
Xtra Mile Recordings.
